Coffee Cake

1/2 C shortening
3/4 C sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
2 C flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 pint sour cream

6 T softened butter
1 C packed brown sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1 C chopped nuts

1. Mix last four ingredients and set aside.
2. Grease 10″ tube pan, and line it with waxed paper. Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time. Add flour, baking powder and soda to mix, alternately with sour cream.
3. Spread half of batter in pan. Sprinkle half of nut mix over it. Repeat.
4. Bake at 350° about 50 minutes. Cool 10 minutes and remove from pan.
