Vidalia Onion Cheese Dip

3 large Vidalia onions, coarsely chopped
2 tablespoons margarine
8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1 clove garlic, minced or a few shakes of garlic powder

Tortilla chips or crackers

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Sauté onions in margarine.
3. Mix cheese, mayonnaise, garlic and Tabasco sauce. Stir in onions.
4. Put in buttered casserole and cook 25 minutes.
5. Serve hot with tortilla chips or crackers.
